Install Symantec Anti Virus For Mac
Macs run anti-virus software to maintain the defense-in-depth aspect of a large, multi-platform (way too many PCs) system. Anti-virus software is also a forced requirement for many, if not all, US government computer systems. By running SAV, my Mac is able to locate and quarantine Windows-only viruses sent to me, keeping the network safe. Mac OS X 64-bit mode is supported. PowerPC processors are not supported as of version 12.1.x. As of version 12.1.2, case-sensitive formatted volumes are supported. Remove legacy Symantec AntiVirus (SAV) for Mac installations before installing Symantec Endpoint Protection. See Remove Symantec software for Mac using RemoveSymantecMacFiles.

Caution
Running other third-party endpoint protection products alongside Microsoft Defender ATP for Mac is likely to lead to performance problems and unpredictable side effects. If non-Microsoft endpoint protection is an absolute requirement in your environment, you can still safely take advantage of MDATP for Mac EDR functionality after configuring MDATP for Mac antivirus functionality to run in Passive mode.

Microsoft Defender ATP can discover a proxy server by using the following discovery methods:
- Proxy auto-config (PAC)
- Web Proxy Auto-discovery Protocol (WPAD)
- Manual static proxy configuration
If a proxy or firewall is blocking anonymous traffic, make sure that anonymous traffic is permitted in the previously listed URLs.
Warning
Authenticated proxies are not supported. Ensure that only PAC, WPAD, or a static proxy is being used.
SSL inspection and intercepting proxies are also not supported for security reasons. Configure an exception for SSL inspection and your proxy server to directly pass through data from Microsoft Defender ATP for Mac to the relevant URLs without interception. Adding your interception certificate to the global store will not allow for interception.

If you prefer the command line, you can also check the connection by running the following command in Terminal:
The output from this command should be similar to the following:
OK https://x.cp.wd.microsoft.com/api/report
OK https://cdn.x.cp.wd.microsoft.com/ping
Caution
We recommend that you keep System Integrity Protection (SIP) enabled on client machines. SIP is a built-in macOS security feature that prevents low-level tampering with the OS, and is enabled by default.
Once Microsoft Defender ATP is installed, connectivity can be validated by running the following command in Terminal:

To store passphrases in the keychain, set this option in your ssh configuration file. This UI was deprecated some time ago and has been removed.Instead, a new UseKeychain option was introduced in macOS Sierra allowing users to specify whether they would like for the passphrase to be stored in the keychain. Keychain changesPrior to macOS Sierra, ssh would present a dialog asking for your passphrase and would offer the option to store it into the keychain. This option was enabled by default on macOS Sierra, which caused all passphrases to be stored in the keychain. This was not the intended default behavior, so this has been changed in macOS 10.12.2.
